They Come in Waves

The last gaming session ended with the party entering a ruined castle in efforts to find the long lost princess. The first room was full of stone golems. Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis cast control construct and sent the golems off to destroy their creator. This is where this week's game begins.

The party started in the first room of the dungeon and could hear the screams and footsteps of creatures coming towards them. Peldras drank a potion of True Invisibility, and headed for one door while Maldrek stood watch over other. The remaining party readied for battle. The tengu cleric cast Holy Aura on the party. Peldras observed a wyrm green dragon in the room next door and the party decided to lure the dragon into the smaller room. The dragon released it's breath weapon upon reaching the doorway.  Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis saw a balor appear behind the dragon through a different doorway and warned the party, he then cast chain lightening on both the dragon and the balor. At this point it became evident that the balor was immune to electricity.  Peldras slaughtered the dragon and the party lured the balor to the room. The balor looked through the door to see Maldrek and cast Fire Storm. As the balor walks into the room, it was attacked by the invisible Peldras, and then by the waiting Vulgar and Maldrek. The balor unsuccessfully attempts to implode Maldrek, before being slain by the party. Upon death, the balor exploded. The tengu cleric responded by casting Mass Heal upon the party.

Several rounds later, a great wyrm green dragon appears from a different door way. The party once again lures the dragon to their room. Vulgur greets the dragon with his axe, Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis fires off a couple of force missles, and Peldras manages to tumble behind it. Maldrek also does some damage with a combination magic/ melee attack. The dragon aims a breath weapon at Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis. Peldras slaugtered the dragon during the next round in a wondrous attack that involved jumping onto the dragon from behind with blades out, and gutting the dragon. The party stood in awe as for a split second Peldras' invisible body appeared as an outline within the spraying dragon blood and the tengu cleric once again healed the party by casting Mass Heal.

The party heard the sound of casting from around the corner through a corridor, the casters are easily able to recognize the sounds of devil summoning their friends from a foreign plane. The tengu cleric cast Blade Barrier to block of a passage way into the room. Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis cast Dimensional Lock and Invisibility Purge and Bless in preparation for the next battle. A pit fiend appeared in the doorway behind the blade barrier, unaware that it was no longer invisible. It warned it's cohort in infernal that the passage way was blocked and to go an alternate way. The pit fiend cast a quickened Fireball at Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis and then turned to join it's party. Peldras snuck into the corridor towards where the devils are expected to show up. He is once again invisible. Vulgur readied his attack just behind Peldras. Atlab'Gelaun Teken'duis moved back to the original room, in effort to preserve resources for the pending battle. Game was called.

The party killed:
  • Wyrm Green Dragon
  • Balor
  • Great Wyrm Dragon
For 153,600xp

Interesting notes and tidbits:
  • Mel observed that the balor figure appears to have man parts when viewed from behind.
  • Dave's action to kill the great wyrm dragon was incredibly awesome and would take upwards to six months to animate.

Post the First

A couple of weeks ago I suggested nominating someone to be our group secretary to keep track of what game we were playing, who's turn to cook, and to chronicle a summary of the previous game night. No one stepped up, so I nominated myself. You are welcome. I also made a spiffy blog so that we could archive our games, in case anyone wanted to walk down rpg memory lane someday. Everyone can bookmark the blog if they would like, I tried to spiff it up a bit. I will also cut and paste future entries right into the Facebook group.

This past week there was a bit of a mishap and the DM was left without her dungeon. You all get to live another week, and we opted to play board games instead. I announced that the dungeon will be the end of my Pathfinder campaign, and we should be ready to move onto the next campaign in November/December. Frank will be running Serenity next, he has enough books for everyone. He is not requiring character backgrounds, and all characters will know each other at the start of game with the assumption that we have been traveling together for about six months. Discussion was had about what everyone would like to play. Thom announced that he is considering playing the captain.

Due to the Pathfinder mishap, we will be playing Pathfinder this coming Saturday, 10/18. The following week is the Halloween party, and the week after that will be Werewolf.
